专辑介绍：
    孟德尔颂写的神剧《以利亚》，此剧剧本改编自路德教圣经，1846年以英语首演於英国，被公认为19世纪德国神剧的巔峰之作。孟德尔颂将此剧分成完整两部份，演出时亦不需连贯，剧中处处充满虔诚气氛。本片完整收录两部份42首曲子，罗勃?萧依然维持高水準的合唱，如：《祂看顾以色列金境》、《感谢神》让聆听者感受无比的庄严肃穆，罗勃?萧的指挥功力更让乐团及歌者和谐流畅。

这首诗歌选自门德尔松(1809-1847)的神剧《以利亚》(Elijah, Op.70)，剧本改编自《路德教圣经》——歌词取自诗篇“你要把你的重担卸给耶和华…”。 该剧是门德尔松短暂的一生中最伟大的作品，被公认为19世纪德国清唱剧的巅峰之作。
    门德尔松一生中交游广阔，他的作品享誉欧洲，赢得无数赞许，尤其是受到英格兰宫廷皇室的欢迎。他最早的“成熟”作品《仲夏夜之梦》序曲(1826)和《赫布里底群岛》(1830-1832)展现出他的精湛技巧和独特的旋律风格，标志着标题性或描写性音乐会序曲创作史中的一个重要阶段。在后来的作品中他的视野大为扩展(交响曲、协奏曲、清唱剧、合唱音乐等等)，他的很多音乐作品所共有的精炼、美妙与和声上的规规矩矩在《以利亚》的伯明翰首演中达到登峰造极的境地，为维多利亚中期的音乐趣味定下了典范。
    在门德尔松众多作品中，仙女、女巫和山神之类的幻想形象从没有离开过他，他的后期作品还出现过宗教内容逐渐增多的现象但他对幻想主题的偏爱，例如神剧《伊利亚》。他并不是逃避现实世界，也没有任何阴晦或邪恶的成分。他在反驳人们对他的误解时曾经写道：“如果一个人对世界绝望，……对着世界上的一切都不能全心全意去爱，……——我可不是这样的人，我也不希望成为这样的人。”门德尔松用肯定的态度对待生活和大自然，把幻想与现实、幻想与大自然的光明世界联系在一起，这就是他的音乐具有光辉的色彩，优雅、温柔并能普遍为人们所接受的原因。
    门德尔松将此剧分成完整两部份共42首曲子。《以利亚》上半部完成于1846年，同年八月在伯明翰音乐节时公演，由门德尔松亲自指挥，并取得巨大成功；门德尔松也因此积劳成疾，但他仍扶病继续创作完成此剧的下半部。翌年夏，接获姊姊去世的噩耗，伤心过度，不久也相继而逝。
